Lina's Notes, chapter 3
8th of September
Dear Diary,
The last week two days have been a mess. A lot happened, but the most shocking was that Mister Hartfelt died of "suicide"—which means his weird behavior wasn’t just because of me.
Everyone who had him as a teacher now has to go to some school psychologist for a month to ‘recover from this shock.'
But I have more important things to do than talk about how I feel about the death of a teacher, like finding out what caused it. —Unlike with the other things, I wanted to find out about but couldn't, I actually have something resembling an answer to this:
First, there was this startledness every time someone came up to him in the hallway. It started when I first saw students carrying those cards around—maybe his death has something to do with
I think I should document our last conversation too for investigation purposes:
“Mister Hartfelt, if you have a moment!”
“…Uhm, yes Li- eh, Ms. Schwarz?”
“I have a question about chapter five in the book we are reading, what do you think the author meant when-”
“I have no idea Ms. Schwarz, please go back to your class, I have things to do.”
“But I’m sure you could-”
“I said I. Don’t. Know. You have this strange habit to always ask too many questions. Goodbye.”
That strange conversation happened the day before he died. He had this panicked look in his eyes, but when I saw him leave the building later that day, his expression had changed to that of someone who had already made peace with the end.
